The company manufactured hydraulic jacks which were used when the plane was put through a series of rigorous tests to see how it would respond under flight conditions.
The prototype aircraft was tested to see how it would react to supersonic flight.
Joseph Hooper of Hampton worked at Eland while the experimental work was being conducted.
He is proud to have been involved in the early stages of the project, which has changed the face of aviation.
He said: "It was a great achievement for this plane to get off the ground and to be in use for all this time."
