May 23, 2001 9:44: The forgotten art of Morris dancing was well and truly alive in Croydon this weekend when a local group took to the streets for a day of entertainment.
The borough's North Wood Morris Men teamed up with two other groups for a day of dance in the town centre on Saturday (May 19).
The North Wood Morris Men is now in its 26th year of traditional May dancing and the group can boast of performances at Wembley Arena, London Zoo and the Millennium Dome.
Celebrities such as Rolf Harris, Frank Bruno and Peter Duncan have also joined the group on some of their many dances.
Mayday Hospital is just one of the organisations to have benefited from the £15,000 raised through the North Wood Morris Men events.
