I would like to say something about the state of St Helier wards.
As a former domestic said, the demands placed on domestic staff are sometimes unreasonable. There are excellent domestics at St Helier, but they are sometimes let down by their peers. The bathrooms and toilets are supposed to be cleaned from 7am to 8pm there is no cover for 24 hours.
To the lady who cleaned her own bath, the bathrooms and toilets would have been used by her fellow patients from night until morning, so they wouldnt have been cleaned.
If she noticed that the bath had three-day-old grime around it, why didnt she say something before?
Bathrooms and toilets are checked every day, so sometimes the bad state of floors in bathrooms and toilets are due to fellow patients dirty habits.
The lady said she asked the nurse for cleaning products, such as Jif. Domestics are only allowed to use products supplied by the hospital itself, because of the Health and Safety Act.
