A ring from the King of Rock and Roll's family will be the centrepiece of a local charity's fundraising campaign.
The magnificent £18,000 ring is encrusted with diamonds and rubies and was donated by rock legend Elvis Presley's first cousin for an auction next Saturday, which will raise money for the Linda Jackson Macmillan Cancer Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital.
The sale of the ring, donated by Donna Presley, will be the main attraction of the nostalgic day at the Pavilions Shopping Centre on August 11 a date which also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the death of the star.
Money raised from the auction and from the sale of Elvis themed goods such as cups and key-rings, donated by Elvis fanatic Sid Shaw, will go to the Northwood centre. The Las Vegas favourite will also provide inspiration for the host of Elvis impersonators competing in the look-a-like and sound-a-like competition on the day. Those interested should call 01895 233926.
