Just days before the start of the new season, Keith Boanas has resigned as manager of Tooting & Mitcham.
Boanas, who was in charge at Sandy Lane for three years, led Tooting to the Ryman League Division Two title last season, while at the same time managing Charlton Athletic Ladies.
But he believes his future lies within the womens game and made his decision to leave Tooting after their 2-2 pre-season draw with Margate last Tuesday.
I had to make a choice, said Boanas. If I had stayed on as manager of Tooting it would have meant leaving Charlton.
It was the hardest decision Ive ever had to make in football.
Assistant manager Ian Hazel takes permanent charge of the side, who begin their Ryman League season against Windsor & Eton this Saturday.
