Several boroughs could miss out on the promised number of extra police officers if allocation methods are changed, according to London Mayor Ken Livingstone.

Last year, Barnet Police were promised an extra 32 officers by March 2002 as part of a funding package in the Mayor's first budget for 1,050 extra officers across London.

However, a proposed change to the allocation formula used by the Metropolitan Police Authority could see some boroughs getting fewer officers.
