At the weekend Collingwood members were in action at the London Cross Country Championships, which included the veterans championships and the London Heathrow Youth Cross Country Championships, writes John Ivers.

In the morning Collingwood member Kayleigh Ivers participated in the U13, representing Sutton.

Kayleigh finished 82nd in a field of around 200.

In the afternoon the Collingwood mens teams were in action, where Collingwood were able to enter two teams of four. Andy Flett: led home in 43rd place with a time of 34:47.

Debut

Dan Gillett, making his debut in the event was 94th in 36:45; Keith Dunning and Martin Lloyd again had a close contest, with Dunning winning this encounter as they recorded times of 38:05 and 38:10 as they finished in 134th and 138th places.

Jess Strong had a fine run to finish 231st in 41:34; Tery Fogarty, another debutante was pleased with his 250th place and 42:35 time.

Bridger was 281st in 44:28 and Malcolm Whelan completed the Collingwood entries, and as yet another debutante finished 308th in 46:19.

All stated that conditions on the course were markedly easier that in previous years, as the ground was soft and not the usual mudbath.

On Sunday Collingwood's "Marathon Man" Rob Wilson was in action at the Monaco Marathon, his 195th marathon.

Colin and Thomas Wilkie competed in the Florence half marathon.
