A Temple Fortune drummer has predicted his band will take the UK pop charts by storm after their new track has been adopted as the official Pokemon song.

Dusty Scales, 25, of nu-metal pop group 50. Grind said the band got their lucky break with their new song Gotta Catch 'Em All when they were in Copenhagen helping out Danish production crew DEEKAY music.

"We were recording in a studio in Copenhagen when we heard the demo of Gotta Catch 'Em All and we knew we could record a fantastic nu-metal version of it. So we got together and went for it," Dusty explained.

And according to the boys, when Nintendo heard their version of the Pokemon song they loved it. He added: "They asked us if the track could be the official Pokemon single.

"I think it's such a high energy track with a pop edge to it it's bound to do well. It's definitely got what it takes to get to Number One for Christmas."

The group which includes guitarist James Goldingay, 25, lead singer Nick Atkinson, 21, DJ John Hendicott, 21, and bass player Harry Callow, 18, predicts their song will be a firm favourite both for schoolchildren and fun loving students when it comes out on December 10.

A spokesman for Virgin record shop at Brent Cross shopping centre was non-committal about the band's chance for success: "We can confirm we will be selling some copies in our Brent Cross branch. It's difficult to say whether a track will do well or not but here we tend to stock more R'n'B style tracks than nu-metal."

The group's ambition is to win international success and get onto Top of the Pops. In the meantime they are busy raising their profile with interviews on music television shows and will appear on Channel 4's T4 Popworld on Sunday.
