Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of all 21 MTV awards from the MTV HQ at 180 Oxford Street, W1.
The theft occurred sometime between 5:30pm on November 12 2001 and 10:00am on November 13.
Police were alerted by a member of staff who discovered the theft on Tuesday morning.
The awards had been delivered back to the HQ from Germany where last Sunday's awards ceremony took place, to be engraved for the individual recipients. They had not yet been engraved.
The awards are valued at £6,500 in total, and were contained in a box.
Among the award winners are: Fatboy Slim, Robbie Williams and American rock band, Limp Bizkit.
