MoMo, the pioneers of Dar' music, are to appear at the Croydon Clocktower, Kathar-ine Street, on Friday, October 12, at 8.30pm.

The band, whose name stands for music of moroccan origin', are the London-based dons of a style of music which is the result of a North African culture clash with the world-wide electronic dance sounds of house, garage, techno and breakbeat.

The sound, called Dar' music, has been described as new, electronic, funky and forward-looking.

So forget any preconceptions about the mystical east, and prepare for a band who are promising to do for Morocco what Bob Marley did for

Jamaica.

In what is set to be a popular event, MoMo will be presenting their 40 minute long, six song manifesto "The Birth of Dar", released as a mini CD on Apartment 22 records on 8th October.

Having appeared at events at The Fridge, Bagleys and the TUC Respect Festival, the trio have had considerable experience and have received critical approval from the likes of Time Out who described their music as, "Hypnotic trance, dynamic dance irresistible."

Those wishing to see Lahcen Lahbib (vocals, percussion), Farid Nainia (lothar, vocals, percussion), and Tahar Il Idrissi (sintir, vocals, percussion), are advised to book early.

The band have toured with Robert Plant and magazine Seven, said, "This band will go on to big things."

Tickets are (£6 / £4 concs) available from the Croydon Clocktower Box Office: 020 8253 1030.
