Two matches in the last week have again found Carshalton failing to score and it is now four games since a Carshalton player found the net.

Frank Murphy has signed two new players in his search for a goalscorer.

At the moment, although the defence is playing well, heads are bound to drop when a goal is scored against the team as we wonder where the next goal is coming from.

There could be few complaints last Saturday when Worthing, under their new manager Barry Lloyd, were by far the stronger team with an air of determination about their play.

There was a frank' discussion after the match as Carshalton looked to get back on track.

Improvement

On Tuesday in the Ryman League Cup also against Worthing a number of fringe players were tried in the team and there was certainly a vast improvement in the play.

Once again chances were squandered and after taking an early lead Worthing flattered the scoreline with a last minute breakaway goal.

There was however a number of positive things, which came out of the match and a couple of reserve team players, must have caught the eye.

This weekend thoughts turn to the FA Trophy and the visit of Newport ( Isle of Wight).

Newport are a strong side who did well to beat Crawley in the last round.

Reward

Carshalton have never played Newport in a competitive match and with the reward for the winners being a possible lucrative match against a Nationwide Conference team the match should be keenly fought.

Newcomers Paul Ferguson and Jerome Charlton will not be eligible for the match. Byron Glasgow is definitely out although he is expected to return in a week's time.

On Saturday before the match the club will be presenting an award to Neil Robson oncompleting 300 appearances. Neil was presented with a bottle of champagne last weekend by the Supporters Club and almost celebrated the occasion with a goal.
