Eleven memberes of Bexley Swimming Club were in action at Basingstoke in the varying disciplines of the Wessex Wyvern multi-discipline Championships, held at Cranbourne School, in Basingstoke.

The club's squads again upheld the high standards expected from one of the country's leading exponents in the sport.

In the biathlon discipline, which incorporates a 2,000-metre run and 200-metre swim, Kathryn Rolfe was the lone Bexley swimmer competing in the open ladies' category, making a long awaited comeback in a sport in which she had not competed for some considerable time.

Kathryn showed she had not lost any of her skills, winning both disciplines and overall title.

The triathlon, in which three disciplines running, swmming and pistol shooting are used, was the most keenly contested event and saw eight Bexley entries in the varying age groups.

The Bexley competitors contributed to a magnificent five, age-group victories

Making her debut in the triathlon after numerous victories at biathlon, was Paige Dummer.

She took a well deserved second place in the girl's youth E category (9/10 years), taking second place in both swimming and shooting events.

In the girl's youth D (11/12 years), Paige's elder sister, Ellie, had a comfortable victory, winning the shooting and coming second in both the swim
