CASH RAFFLE: Age Concern is holding its first annual raffle to raise funds for its work. There is more than £10,000 available in prize money in the raffle, which will be drawn on February 14, 2002. There is a first prize of £5,000, three second prizes of £1,000 each and four third prizes of £500 each. Tickets cost 50p available from the Age Concern day centre, in Coldharbour Road, Northfleet. Fifty per cent of proceeds go to Northfleet Age Concern.

FOLK DANCE: Take your partners by the hand for a traditional folk dance in Gravesend on Saturday. Held by Gravesend Folk Dance Group, it will be held at Christchurch Hall, Old Road East, from 7.30pm to 10pm. An American supper is included and dancers are asked to bring "finger food". JINGLE BELLS: Gravesend's town centre streets will ring with the sound of Christmas bells this Saturday. The Corum hand bell ringers will be joined by Tonbridge Hoodeners and Mummers with a traditional Mummers play. The event is in Gravesend from 12pm to 4pm. Call 01474 337600.

MARITIME FAIR: A fair celebrating Gravesend's maritime history will be held in the town at the weekend. Model ships, nautical books, pictures and artefacts will be on offer at St Andrew's Arts Centre, in Royal Pier Road, on Saturday from 11am to 3pm.
