A VICIOUS dog used in the brutal murder of a New Cross bouncer has been sentenced to death by an Old Bailey judge.

Colonel, an eight-year-old American pitbull was involved in the attack on Paradise Bar doorman George Napier, on November 10, last year.

He is owned by Spencer Sheppard, aged 29, who collected the dog after he was thrown out of the bar for refusing to pay the £5 entry fee.

Sheppard also rounded up his older brother Louis, 31, and friends Duane Daniels, 27, and Daniel Clark, 24.

Colonel, is one of a pair of fighting dogs kennelled since the murder and Gaddafi, who was left at home, will be castrated and registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

But Judge Giles Forrester agreed Colonel should be put down.

Daniels was convicted by the jury of murder and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Clark and the Sheppard brothers have admitted conspiracy to cause GBH.

They are all due to be sentenced on December 20.
