CHILDREN at a Horns Cross school will be able to learn from a science and wildlife garden they helped to design and build.

Mayor of Dartford Councillor Tom Maddison opened the garden at Stone St Mary's Primary School last week.

Children worked with environmental charity Groundwork to set up phase one of the project which will contain three wildlife areas, including walkways and a pond, where pupils can enjoy outdoor lessons and learn about the environment.

Groundwork's executive director David Anstey said: "This is a fantastic example of what can be achieved by teachers, pupils, parents and local organisations working together."

Groundwork funded the scheme with News International and the school raised money through businesses, such as GlaxoSmithKline, and Dartford Lions' Club.
