A BEREAVED son has produced damning evidence against a Plumstead GP who claims to have an immaculate professional record.

Dr Sisir Ghosh, who works from the Plumstead Medical Centre, is currently being investigated over a variety of allegations by the General Medical Council (GMC).

Dr Ghosh has claimed there had never been a complaint made against him in his entire career.

But Donald Nunn, of Griffen Road, revealed his complaint to the Family Practitioner Committee against Dr Ghosh, after his father's death was not only upheld, but led to the doctor being fined £1,000 for his negligence.

The committee heard how the doctor's failure to visit Donald Nunn's 81-year-old dad, who he knew to be suffering from respiratory problems, led to tragedy.

When George Nunn fell ill on Friday, August 15, 1986, his home help immediately contacted Dr Ghosh's Sandyhill Road Surgery and was assured the doctor had been told of the pensioner's condition and that an urgent home visit would be made.

But when police eventually broke down the door of Mr Nunn's Burrage Road home after calls from concerned neighbours, they found him dead.

His son said: "When we left my father on the Friday, we knew he was very ill, but we were assured the doctor would be straight round to assess him, as I had to work all weekend.

"But it turned out Dr Ghosh hadn't set foot inside dad's home."

Donald Nunn added: "What really upset the family, more than anything, is that dad died alone."

Dr Ghosh is currently being investigated over a variety of allegations by the GMC, which uphold the standards of the profession, and which now fulfils the role of the disbanded Family Practitioner Committee.

A dossier on the doctor, who lives in Welling, was handed to them in 1999 by the Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich Health Authority.

When the News Shopper approached the doctor for a comment, he said: "I have been a doctor for over 27 years and have never had any type of allegation made against me."
