Woolwich publican Andy "The Viking" Fordham was beaten in the semi-finals of the World Masters' Darts Championship, which concluded at the Lakeside Club on Sunday afternoon.
Fordham, who had reached the last four without dropping a set, faced Finland's Jarkko Komula, nicknamed "Smiler" for obvious reasons because he doesn't in the best of seven-leg semi-final. But Andy, who had a couple of good chances in the early legs of the first set to win but missed when first to the double throw, eventually went down 4-0 to the Finnish star.
However, Komula was unable
to sustain that form when losing to Ray Barneveld in the final.
Fordham, meanwhile, will be back at the Lakeside Club early in January for the Embassy World Championship when the top 32 players take part.
But Fordham could hardly have started with a tougher match aftere being drawn against defending champion and number 1 seed John "Boy" Walton in the first round.
Ironically, Fordham teamed up with Walton to win the World Pairs Championship.
