A group of Christians are set to unwrap Christmas with music, chat, video and theatre this weekend.

Christian organisation Viz-A-Viz has created an entertaining family show called Tinsel and Truth which takes a closer look at Christmas.

Ever had the sneaking suspicion that among credit cards slips, TV re-runs, visiting in-laws and, of course, turkey, Christmas has something to do with Church?

This is one of the questions posed by the professional multi-media presentation at the Northumberland Heath Baptist Church, in Erith, this Sunday.

Dennis Pethers, who presents the show, said: "Often we try so hard to achieve this elusive emotion of 'feeling Christmassy' but end up feeling disappointed and wonder what was the point of it all. This show is entertaining and moving, people laugh and cry and in the midst of it all think about the true meaning of Christmas."

Reverend Gill Lee, an organiser of the event, said: "We have invited the Tinsel and Truth Show to Erith as part of its tour because we know it doesn't preach at people. Instead it gives them the opportunity to think about the reason for the season and where God may fit in. People can reflect on this and then be free to make up their own minds."

Dec 9, Tinsel and Truth, Northumberland Heath Baptist Church, Belmont Road, Northumberland Heath, Erith, 6pm, £2.50 with refreshments, 01322 333384.
