VICTORY has been secured in the battle against plans to use Simplemarsh Farm as a service area for the M25 motorway now that the developer has withdrawn its appeal.

The decision was announced at a pre-inquiry meeting held by inquiry inspector, Stuart Nixon, at Runnymede Council offices on Monday this week.

It means that New Barn Farm in Cobham is now the only proposed site remaining on the M25 to be considered at the forthcoming public inquiry.

Council leader Cllr Geoff Woodger said that the cost of fighting such an inquiry had been of some concern to Total Fina-EIF, the financial backer of the companies proposing the farm.
