Shoppers are being urged to help ease the suffering of broiler chickens before they are slaughtered. A new report by the RSPCA provides evidence that many of the 820 million chickens bred for their meat in the UK each year experience a catalogue of illness. Consumers are being asked to insist that supermarkets seek better welfare standards.
