Christmas cards showing winter scenes from Mill Hill will sit proudly on coffee tables across the globe this festive season.

Eric Partridge, 75, president of the Milldon Art Society, came up with the design in a competition to raise funds for the Mill Hill Preservation Society.

The picture is of alms houses at the top of Milespit Hill and includes Angel Pond and the Church of the Cross and Star.

The other winning card which includes the same church and the Mill Hill Village sign was painted by Sheila Hume.

Paul Amsterdam, a member of the MHPS, said: "Our committee chose the winners and we were very pleased because they are marvellous pictures.

"It's nice for the people of Mill Hill who can look at the cards and see the area where they live.

"The great thing is that they are sent all over the world."

You can buy the cards, priced £1 for three, by calling Paul Amsterdam on 020 8958 4823 or visiting Marston Fine Art Galleries at 6 The Broadway, Mill Hill.

The Milldon Art Society meets at the Trinity Union Church in Mill Hill Broadway on Wednesdays from 7.30pm.
