It really was a huge disappointment not to have the Union Flag flying alongside Old Glory, Stars and Stripes on the 11th of the 11th (Feeble flag excuse', Times Letters, November 29).
It's only symptomatic of the continuing political correctness that means our borough will unilaterally go ahead with a consultative think tank analysing the merits of throwing additional funds at a fully inclusive in-depth survey of the needs of some off the wall minority interest group but needs a directive from central HQ to instruct them to raise the flag.
Which directive told the powers-that-be to install the outrageous electronic digital display in front of our town hall?
We should have the Union Flag flying high from every government-funded building in the land. Almost every journalist and visitor to New York since the atrocities of September has commented positively about the flags flying from every available post.
If you have any responsibility for a prominent building I suggest you invest in a flag and get it flying and don't wait for the directive.
