HEATHROW Airport has installed heart defibrillators in all four of its terminals as part of a government health drive to improve the survival rates of heart attack casualties in public places.

The initiative makes Heathrow the first airport to trial the equipment, which can be used by more than 180 trained staff.

Twenty-eight machines were initially installed at Terminal 4, with more being rolled out to include terminals 1, 2 and 3. Staff have been fully trained to use the automated lifesaving devices, as well as how to recognise the signs of cardiac arrest by St John Ambulance and the Red Cross.
