Reports that a transplant patient died after receiving a diseased kidney have been denied by St George's Hospital, Tooting. A national newspaper claimed Dhanapalan Asbury, 57, of Raynes Park, died last month after receiving a kidney from a donor who was found to have cancer after her death. But medical director at St George's, Professor Paul Jones, said although the kidney was later discovered to be cancerous, it was not the primary cause of the man's death.
