More than 1,000 protesters took to the streets of central London last month to appeal against the Government's decision to allow a fifth terminal at Heathrow.

The rally, organised by pressure group HACAN Clearskies, was supported by several politicians and the contingent delivered a letter of protest to Prime Minister Tony Blair at 10 Downing Street.

Aircraft noise, similar to that suffered by residents in Battersea, Putney and Wandsworth, was also blasted from loud speakers along the route through Whitehall.
