Addiscombe 5 bt Cheam 0

The benefit of having a large squad of players ensured Addiscombe maintained their unbeaten record and stayed top of Surrey Division Two.

With seven first teamers unavailable, the rest of the squad took the chance to impress with conviction against third-placed Cheam.

Addiscombe started slowly but established a hold on the midfield and their first goal came with John Armstrong playing some neat hockey with Ian Hadland before slotting under the advancing keeper.

After the interval the Croydon side soon increased their lead. Simon Reay-Jones smashed home a fine second for what was Addiscombe's 50th league goal of the campaign, with player-coach Keith Yeates adding goals three and four from a penalty flick and short corner strike.

Addiscombe rounded off the match when Aussie Scott Antony scored with almost the last touch of the match.

Meanwhile, Addiscombe Ladies First XI fought bravely but couldn't match league leaders Oxted in a 4-0 defeat. They remain in second position.

Addiscombe's Second XI maintained top spot in Division Six with a 3-0 away win at Thames Valley.

Mary Jones, Nicky Carter and Helen Squires were all on target.
