Kenley 2 drew with London Edwardians 2

Kenley twice let a lead slip through their fingers in this Surrey Division Two clash and a last-minute goal meant honours were shared.

Felding an understrength team because of notable absentees, Kenley started well but failed to convert their early chances.

Edwardians fought back but were denied from scoring from a penalty corner due to a diving save from Kenley keeper John Young.

Just before half-time some well worked attacking play from Kenley resulted in Nick Thomas coming tantalisingly close to scoring, only to be denied by the Edwardians keepers helmet.

The second half started again with Kenley applying the majority of the pressure.

This resulted in a penalty corner which was firmly put away by Ricky Betteridge.

Kenley again took the game to Edwardians but were punished by a break from Edwardians which resulted in another penalty corner.

The Edwardians first shot was blocked but Kenley failed to clear the ball resulting in an easy tap in for the Edwardians' equaliser.

Five minutes after the restart, some well worked attacking play from Andy Wright and Betteridge resulted in Wright's flick being illegally blocked on the line.

Paul Bateman stepped up and put away a clinically executed penalty flick.

With only two minutes remaining, disaster struck for Kenley. Again they failed to clear the ball from an Edwardian attack, leaving John Young little chance of saving the Edwardian shot.
