Warlingham 51 bt Reedonians 7

The tide finally turned for Warlingham on Saturday in this London Division 4 SW league encounter with Reedonians as a virtually full-strength side ran away comfortable winners.

It was no cakewalk however and the home side spent the first quarter defending deep in their own half with 14 men after scrum-half Paul Williams was sent to the sin bin.

Having sustained 20 minutes of intense pressure, Warlingham worked their way back up the field where Neil Farmer was able to open the scoring with a penalty goal.

Shortly afterwards, more pressure put Warlingham close to the Reeds line and Paul Williams went over from short range for his first try of the afternoon which Farmer converted.

Further first-half tries followed from Tony Williams and Chris Cole to give Warlingham a 22-point lead at the interval.

Reedonians scored their try immediately after the break and with Matt Collins confined to the sin bin, there was a hint of a Reedonian revival.

However, such thoughts did not enter Warlingham's agenda as they proceeded to take Reedonians apart in all departments, adding five further tries through Tony Knapton (two), Neil Robson, Jack van Wyck and Paul Williams.

So complete was the Warlingham performance it is difficult to single out individuals but in Ian Brooks they have found a talented lock forward who can deliver lineout ball all afternoon. His scrummaging and loose play is also solid.

The return of Paul Williams and the arrival of his two younger brothers has also added spark to the side.
