GURKHA campaigner Padma Shrestha is compiling a book on the Nepalese soldiers.
Mr Shrestha, 49, of Morley Avenue, Wood Green, is appealing for readers to send in anecdotes, written accounts and photographs for his book under the working title of "British and Nepalese Youths as Gurkhas: Positive contributions and achievements".
He is particularly interested in contributions from youngsters in the borough's schools for the book which he hopes will educate future generations.
Mr Shrestha said: "I want to know what the children think about the Gurkhas. Educating the British and Nepalese youth is important as they do not know what war is about."
The Gurkhas have been associated with Britain since a friendship treaty was signed between the two countries in 1815.
In 1997 Mr Shrestha successfully campaigned to have Gurkha soldiers represented at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Day.
