YOUR report (Enfield Independent, November 21) states that Enfield North MPJoan Ryan has issued an ultimatum to WAGN, the local rail operators.

She says in a very bullish statement that "if the rail service shows no improvement in the near future" she will personally take it up with the minister concerned.

Well, can we now expect action on other fronts concerning Enfield. For example, the two local hospitals which had some of the worst reports in England and Wales.

A report last week said that street crime in Enfield is up 25 per cent compared to the same time last year.

Well, Ms Ryan, it looks Iike another minister to have dialogue with. Then there was that other report last week about the gradual rundown of roads and street lighting since this Labour council came to power nearly eight years ago. The report envisaged £100m will be needed to bring Enfield highways up to scratch. Well it looks like Ms Ryan will have to see another minister about that problem. That brings the total to four, and that is only for last week. It can only get better.
