THE BOGUS caller problem took another twist last week when two men knocked on a pensioner's door pretending to be policemen.

The two men showed what the elderly woman thought was police identification and entered her Northfleet flat.

They said they believed her flat was going to be burgled and so wanted to install security cameras.

After looking around, the tricksters described as being in their thirties and of average height and build left the elderly woman's home empty handed.

Neither of the men were wearing police uniforms and one had an Irish accent.

Sergeant Rod Chapman said people should check police identification closely. "If you are in any doubt," he added, "always refuse entry."
