England and Harlequins rugby star Jason Leonard presented Hampton Junior School with a prestigious award for its sports provision last Friday.
The Percy Road school received an Activemark Gold award after undergoing a rigorous audit by Sport England, which assessed the sports programme offered to pupils and the provision for team games and after school sports clubs.
Headteacher Malcolm Rivers said: We are very proud to be the first borough school to achieve this award.
It reflects the tremendous commitment of the staff, enthusiasm of our children and excellent support from our parents for PE and games throughout the school.
