Family members of Kil-lae No, who drowned at the Malden Centre earlier this year, are still waiting for an explanation as to how he died, because of a pathologists blunder.

Last weeks inquest at West London Coroners Court had to be adjourned until Friday, December 14, because Mr Nos blood was not tested for drugs or alcohol after his death.

Mr No, who according to a friends testimony was not a drinker, drowned at the Malden Centre swimming pool on Thursday, March 22.

The court also heard that Mr No was a fit and muscular man with no disease or evident health problems which could have led to his death.

Lifeguards on duty that day gave evidence, as did the 10-year-old girl who saw Mr No lying at the bottom of the council-run pool in Blagdon Road, New Malden.

But the jury was told that a decision on the cause of Mr Nos death would have to be delayed until a toxicological test, taking 10 days, could be run.

Deputy coroner Elizabeth Pygott said: I would not feel at all happy about leaving this evidence.

My job is to establish the facts of the case and find out how, where and when Mr No died. If there is material available which would help do this we must have it.

Peter Song, a friend of Mr Nos, was upset by the coroners decision as it means he and the family must wait even longer for the jurys verdict.

Mr Nos family are keen to understand how the 32-year-old could have drowned in a swimming pool manned by three lifeguards at any one time.

However, a statement read out in court from Danny Mallon, HM principal inspector of health and safety, said:At the moment we have concluded that the management of the Malden Swimming Centre were not in breach of any health and safety law.
