A MAN died on Friday after being shot during a brawl in a Wood Green pub.

The scuffle started just before midnight during a hip-hop dance night at the Litten Tree in Lymington Avenue, with more than 300 people packed into the venue.

The fight was between the 20-year-old victim and a group of young men. As the altercation became more heated, the man was shot.

Following the incident, hundreds of petrified revellers fled the scene, as the man lay dying on the floor.

Crews from the emergency services arrived to find the man sprawled out on the dance floor suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to the North Middlesex Hospital but was pronounced dead the following morning at about 7.20am.

The man has been named as Jade Steven Alleyne, of Comber Close, Cricklewood. A post-mortem at Hornsey Coroners Court gave the cause of death as a gunshot to the neck.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to a woman who tried to revive Mr Alleyne immediately after he was shot.

They also want to find out more about a group of vehicles that were seen speeding away from the pub shortly after the murder.

Flowers have been placed outside the pub as a tribute, and on Wednesday the pub was still closed while investigations continue.

Police are keeping an open mind as to the motive.

DCI Julian Headon, of Operation Trident, is heading the investigation. He can be contacted on 8785 8593, or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

On Tuesday, a north London man was arrested in connection with the case on suspicion of firearms offences and murder. A woman was also arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.
