The Bull theatre is offering audiences the chance to catch the world premiers of new four plays before they hit the stage at the Edinburgh Festival this summer.

The plays Intimacy, Jack Pleasure, A Slight Tilt to the Left and Goering's Defence are all showing this month at the leading Barnet theatre.

Fringe First 2000 winners, Wisepart Productions, start the four-day event on Wednesday, July 24, with the first ever stage adaption of Hanif Kureishi's, Intimacy.

The controversial bestseller by the renowned playwright is adapted by Guy Masterson and is a faithful and sensitive portrayal of the poignant story about the decline of love.

Masterson is also the director of the challenging play Goering's Defence, which is performed the following evening. The play gives a startling insight into the Nazi regime and shows how easily evil can triumph over morals when power is at stake.

Playwright Michael Mears' explores the subject of bereavement in A Slight Tilt to the Left. The play, to be shown on Friday, July 26, is a poignantly comic exploration of bereavement and the obsessions it can lead to.

The final production, Andy Berry's Jack Pleasure, is performed by a cast of four on Saturday, July 27.

The funny and often surreal play follows the adventures of Terry, a confused 36-year-old coach driver who has left his wife and wants to escape his childhood town.

Tickets for all shows are priced £6. The Bull, is at 68 High Street, Barnet. Call the box office on 8275 5373.
