I WRITE with regard to the article last week on the water shortage in two tower blocks (Leyton and Leytonstone Guardian).

It seems ironic to me that the housing department has just completed a £7.5million refurbishment of Fred Wigg and John Walsh towers, yet water pumps break down soon after.

Surely some kind of study was done before refurbishment to identify the age and condition of important equipment like the water pumps, lifts and electricity generators.

This drought comes quite soon after two electricity cuts and to the best of my knowledge tenants are still waiting for compensation for loss of food and so on.

These blocks continue to be neglected by the housing department with serious cases of anti social behaviour, but no resident caretakers. The blocks were well served with two previous caretakers who were resident in the blocks and who cared about the work and living environment.
