A SECURITY guard has been charged with the murder of a man who was found stabbed to death in his Tottenham bedsit.

Matthew Amobi, 28 is accused of attacking the victim at his bedsit in Dowsett Road last Monday at around 10pm. He was arrested last Wednesday and charged with murder the following day.

The victim, who has not yet been named by police, was taken to North Middlesex Hospital but was pronounced dead half an hour later.

A post mortem carried out at Hornsey Mortuary, revealed the man, believed to be of African origin in his late 20s to early 30s, had died from stab wounds to the heart.

He was of large build, 5 ft 11ins tall with a distinctive burn scar on the back of his right hand.

Amobi, also of Dowsett Road, appeared before Haringey magistrates on Tuesday. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on July 15.

Police are appealing for a group of men and women who were seen in the street when the ambulance arrived to make contact as they may have vital information.
