Randy Crawford, one of the world's most seductive, sultry-voiced singers, is coming to town.

The singer, who had a string of hits in the 80s, including Almaz, One Day I'll Fly Away, Street Life and Rainy Night in Georgia, is one of the few female soul artists worthy of being compared to the great PP Arnold.

Combining the soulful influences of gospel with original tunes made Randy an international star, first coming to fame in 1979 when the song Street Life was used on the soundtrack for the Burt Reynold's movie Sharky's Machine.

But her career began long before that when she appeared on jazz legend Cannonball Adderley's album Big Man.

Now more than 15 albums later, the latest being last year's Permanent, Randy is back on the road performing songs from her extensive repertoire.

Randy Crawford plays the Fairfield, Croydon, on Wednesday. For more details see the listings.
