A theatre company which provides training for youngsters from deprived and socially excluded backgrounds in Lambeth and Southwark has been awarded a grant to continue its work.
The Bigfoot Theatre Company was presented with £3,500 by the Lloyds TSB Foundation to help them meet the costs of its summer workshops. The Company offers the courses to children aged between 8 and 16, where they receive lessons in acting, movement and dance, singing, composing, circus skills and film production.
Artistic director of Bigfoot Karl Wozny said: "We are delighted with the funding as it will allow us to carry on with our summer workshops.
"Each member gains a unique experience with us and we are keen to continue to provide development opportunities to local young people."
Bigshot is holding its summer workshops until August 30 for four hours each week, culminating in a performance at the end to demonstrate the skills children will have acquired.
The workshops are free to children from families with low incomes. To find out more call Poppy Griffin on 020 8761 5447
