The annual London Motor Show due to take place next June has been cancelled by the organisers due to a lack of support from the industry.

Following a 12-month consultation process with the British motor industry, Clarion Events Ltd has taken the decision to cancel the New London Motor Show which was due to take place at Earls Court from June 19-29.

It was scheduled to include the London Motor Week and the first ever International Car Designer of the Year Awards.

Although the many new initiatives were well received by most manufacturers, the media and leading industry personalities, the organisers had to conclude that there was insufficient support from the industry to stage a credible event.

"The car market in London and the South East is one of the most important in the world and deserves an event which reflects this," comments Carsten Holm, Clarion show director.

"Whilst it is possible that we could have staged an event with the current level of support, we are concerned that it would not have met our visitors' expectations"
