AFTER entertaining residents for more than a quarter of a century, the Bushey Carnival and Fair has come to an end.

The event, which was organised by Bushey and Oxhey Round Table, will be replaced by a classic car show and fair on Saturday, July 5 the first day of the Bushey Festival.

Chairman of the Round Table Richard Blake said escalating costs had forced the organisation to re-think the event.

The carnival's arena event was expensive at more than £1,000, while there was increasing pressure on the association to contribute towards policing and road closures.

He said: "I think after 20 years, we decided let's have a look at this and see if we can do something different."
