Many schools across the country have been affected by Education Secretary Charles Clarke's funding fiasco and yet Mr Clarke continues to shirk responsibility.

In analysing East Barnet School's shortfall in funding, it is abundantly clear that Mr Clarke has short-changed the teachers.

That school needs £300,000 to cover increases in costs and faces about ten redundancies. It would appear that Mr Clarke offered teachers a well-deserved pay rise and didn't pay up.

Headteacher of East Barnet School Nick Christou should be congratulated for all his tireless dedication and determination to uncover this fiasco.

Are we to assume that, because the Government can't pay our teachers, they'll do the same to the nurses, who were offered a pay rise?

Ironically, instead of encouraging more desperately-needed teachers into the profession, Mr Clarke is now forcing them to take redundancy. Mr Clarke's education funding is a shambles. He should take responsibility and do something about it, or resign.
