QUIZ addicts gathered at the Coach and Horses pub in Croxley Green on Tuesday for the annual quiz league presentation evening and grand quiz night.

About 50 people attended the evening to witness the presentation of two cups, one for the winning team The Coach and Horses A and one for the runners up, the White Bear B team.

The cups are a memorial to a past team captain Graham Wilcox and his then landlord Jo Seabrooke, of the Duke of York in Croxley Green, who both died within a week of each other in the Millennium year.

Presentations were made by Ms Caron Pascoe, who is known as the "Nightingale of Ickenham".

League secretary, Mr Bryan Sherrin said: "Caron is one half of a fine duo called 'No Strings', her partner being a very talented keyboard player called Adrian Dixon and they have performed with Jools Holland on occasions.

"Caron is also a keen quizzer regularly playing at a pub in Ickenham as well as subbing and occasional match for The Coach and Horses winning team."

The league was close-run between five teams until the last three matches when the Coach and Horses A team pulled ahead with three wins by one point, leaving the White Bear B team in second place.

Ten teams of four compete in the league playing each other twice, home and away, answering 32 matched questions per team in eight rounds.

Any teams interested in joining should contact Mr Sherrin on 01923 776513.
