Potters Bar will come to a standstill at 12.56pm on May 10 the exact time of the horrific rail crash in which seven people lost their lives last year.

No trains will go through Potters Bar station in Darkes Lane, and traffic will come to a standstill as a mark of respect for families who lost loved ones.

Seven people were killed and more than 70 were injured when a coach of a WAGN train, heading for King's Lynn in Norfolk from King's Cross, derailed just south of the station.

A service to mark the tragedy will be held at 2.30pm at Mount Grace School, Church Road, Potters Bar.

Candles will be lit in a marquee and a tree of life will be planted by pupils.

Earlier in the day, a private ceremony will be held in a memorial garden, built close to the station.

Central to the garden is a specially-commissioned sculpture by Potters Bar artist Paul Bainbridge, bought after a charity football match which raised £8,000.
