TENSION is mounting as the day of the women's FA Cup final approaches and Charlton fans are urged to go along and cheer their team to victory.

The Charlton women's team booked their place after a hard-fought semi-final win against Arsenal. Now only Fulham stand between them and the trophy.

Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park stadium will host the showcase of women's football which will kick off at 1pm on May 5.

Administration manager of women's and girls' football for Charlton Deb Browne says the final will be a historic day for the club.

She said: "For the women's team to reach the final in its third year is quite an achievement and everyone at the club is very proud.

"The players have worked so hard this season and they deserve the recognition they will get on the day."

She feels the achievement vindicates the club's support for the women's team and hopes fans turn up to back them.

She said: "Charlton have really got behind the team and they are reaping the benefits now. It is going to be a great occasion. I urge the fans to get down there and support the team on this special day."
