Schools, clubs, voluntary organisations and businesses across the borough are all invited to join in Croydon's summer Carnival, with over £1,000 in cash prizes up for grabs.

The theme for 2003 is Characters of Film, so whether you choose to join in the town centre parade dressed as Harry Potter, The Flintstones or depict a scene from Star Wars, the choice is yours. You can enter as a float, or as a single or walking group for the procession which will take place on Saturday July 5. To get the Carnival procession underway this year, several bands are lined up to lead you through the town centre, including the popular Phoenix Dixieland Jazz Men.

The procession will make its way from Queen's Garden to Lloyd Park where the Carnival will get underway in full, complete with star acts and a full funfair, surrounded by dozens of stalls and a funfair. The Carnival is also keen to hear from organisations wishing to take a stall at Lloyd Park or groups wishing to perform at the show.

To enter the parade or to reserve a stall at Lloyd Park, follow the link from the top of this page.

(*nb: the cash prize for the winner of the Business float category will be donated to the charity of the winning entry's choice.)
