Robbers threatened staff at a Shirley off-licence with a knife before fleeing with champagne, cigarettes and cash.

Neither of the two victims, a male in his 20s and a female in her late teens, were injured in the incident at Threshers Wine Shop, Bywood Avenue on Saturday, April 19.

Two males entered the store at 8.20pm while another remained at the door. One of the suspects approached the male victim and put a large, combat-style knife, between six and nine inches long, towards his back and walked him to the rear of the store.

He demanded money from the safe, grabbed the victim's mobile phone and filled up a carrier bag with champagne, cigarettes and cash from the till, before running off with the other suspects.

Anyone with information should call DC Mark Cambage at South Norwood Police Station on 020 8768 1212.
