Consumers in Croydon are being warned that some companies offering discounted luxury holidays may not be all they seem.

Croydon Council's trading standards department are concerned that some holiday clubs, offering a lifetime of discounted trips anywhere in the world, are failing to deliver on their promises.

Unscrupulous clubs often only provide last minute, limited availability accommodation which is usually low star rather then luxury. With the addition of expensive flights, supplements and taxes, it can end up costing more than holidays booked through normal routes.

Councillor Maggie Mansell, cabinet member for public protection and health said: With such attractive offers it can be tempting to sign up straight away but with no cooling off period, people should take the contract away to consider before signing.

"Don't be duped by the persuasive sales techniques and if you are not happy with any of the terms, ask yourself what you are signing up for. Think twice the bargain you think you are getting might not be what it seems."
