A Coulsdon mother-of-two says a proposed development could breach her and her family's human rights.
Although the application from Linden Homes to build six flats and eight five-bedroom houses on a site on Woodfield Hill and Hollymeoak Road have been recommended for refusal, residents, particularly worried mother Sarah Cole, fears the development will destroy their quality of life.
They say they may use laws under the Human Rights Act to claim compensation from the council if the proposals are approved when they go before the planning committee tomorrow (Thursday, May 1).
Mrs Cole said: "I will have a block of flats looking over my house. The visual intrusion and the loss of privacy will be unimaginable."
A council spokesman said: "We are satisfied that we have addressed the human rights and the European Convention issues raised by local residents in reaching our recommendation."
Protestors have distributed leaflets encouraging people to object and collected a 277 name petition opposing the scheme.
