WATFORD RESERVES are on the brink of glory after a Jamie Collins penalty was enough to seal a 1-0 victory at Southampton on Tuesday, April 29.
The Hornets are now top of the table and know if they beat West Ham United in the still to be arranged final home match, the Barclaycard Premiership Reserve League (South) title will be on its way to Vicarage Road. They could even clinch the crown sooner if Fulham and Arsenal Watford's only rivals slip up in their final match.
Nigel Gibbs' men had a slice of luck with the penalty because Saints' keeper Alan Blayney appeared to make contact with the ball as well as Scott Fitzgerald.
Watford Reserves: Lee, Herd, Collins, Swonnell, Doyley, Ifil, Young, Godfrey, Fitzgerald, Fisken, McNamee. Substitutes: Bouazza for Fisken after 45 mins; Boothe for Ifil after 69 mins; Watson, Mead and Mawer not used.
